Hi Lisa, wow you've been busy! Great to hear how well you're doing, as the others said do stick around and share... My daughter had a transplant nearly two years ago so am planning to contact her donor soon.... Laura

Excellent! See you there...

I agree- I never thought of Issy as 'fighting', thought she was incredibly brave throughout her treatment. I think each individual decides what's helpful to them- I imagine that some patients feel more empowered thinking they are a strong battle force! In my opinion, the key is making your friends and family aware of the…

That's great....glad to hear you're improving!

You can contact through Anthony Nolan. Anonymously until 2 years post, and then you can meet up if both parties would like to. I think I have that right, Amy, Annie?!

Hi Una, welcome to the forum!

I'd ask your consultant. My daughter was allowed to interact with our three dogs as soon as she was home post-transplant, but we had the dogs before. My only thought would be to get an older dog (1-2years) already vaccinated and house trained, thus avoiding the inevitable 'poo patrol'!

I can't fault the support provided, as a bereaved parent. Clic Sergent have been brilliant and have come out numerous times to see us. Issy wasn't in need of any psych support after her transplant- but neither was it offered as standard....

Hi Nick, great to see you on the forum...hopefully sharing your blog will help others and you can find support here too. I'm definitely heading over to have a look!

Hi guys, glad things are going well for you. It's brilliant that you're volunteering for AN, I co-ordinate the Dorset Friends group and have had fantastic support from all the team. Looking forward to chatting more on here, it seems to be really taking off!

It's funny isn't it, how music and even smells can just transport you back to a different time and place! Glad to hear you're doing well...

This post made me smile- when Issy was in isolation she listened to a lot of P!nk. She wasn't a girly girl at all but loved the music and the attitude! I think it helped massively. George- if you're a bit of a muso, tried Blitzen Trapper, Mountain Goats and Gogol Bordello? Awesome tunes! Hope you're doing well x

Yes, generally I totally agree! My daughter was always introduced by name and made to feel involved and cared for brilliantly. There was only one occasion when a nurse didn't introduce herself by name and actually it did make a huge difference and highlighted the need to do so. But in general I think this is a problem…

Also, have a look at the general advice thread on here, and pre-transplant thread as I think I've seen others posting who are at the same stage as you. All the best!

Hi David, I haven't had a bmt but went through it with my daughter. There can be rotten side effects but you may not get them all! You should get a 'guide to' type booklet before you go in which we found helpful. Mostly my D was very tired and a bit sick from the pre chemo, but that was sorted with anti emetics. She did…
